Présentation
Hi!
My name is Mira and I’m a Registered Early Childhood Educator with 5+ years of experience. I recently finished working a seasonal Yacht and Travel Nanny position with a family in Fort Lauderdale and am now looking for my next role. You can find my current (annually renewed through demonstrated Continuous Professional Learning) status as a Registered ECE here: publicregister.college-ece.ca/PublicRegisterEN/Public_Register_Profile.aspx?ID=132269
I am developmentally-oriented, model kindness and gentle proxy parenting and I set specific targets in all areas of development (social/emotional, physical, language, literacy, communication and cognitive) for each child I work with, catering my approach in achieving these goals to their specific needs and interests. To provide the children under my care with the consistency they require, I create and instill customized routines that I’ve altered for every family I’ve worked with, in order to best suit their specific needs.
I have an upbeat, can-do attitude that is reflected in my interactions with the children and families I work with.
My personal teaching philosophy entails an emergent curriculum that combines aspects of the HighScope, Montessori and Reggio Emilia curricula, centred around play-based learning. The four cornerstones of my teaching model are: that every child always feels a sense of belonging, has plenty of opportunities for self-expression, knows that their well-being is prioritized at all times and is thoroughly engaged in the learning process. I strive to create a safe and engaging learning environment, while gradually instilling increased independence in performing everyday tasks in an encouraging and supportive manner!
I’m Canadian, passport ready, fully fluent in English and Arabic and am 6 months into learning Spanish (current A2 Level). I’ve worked with children from 0-10 years old. My largest group was a class of 24 preschoolers and I’ve worked the infant, toddler and preschool rooms in various centres as well as in a kindergarten classroom and with school-age children. Working privately with families, my youngest was 7 months.
I’m happy to apply my Spanish knowledge to the curriculum/program as I continue to build my own knowledge of the language and/or teach Arabic as I’m fully bilingual (I have provided Arabic lessons in person and via Zoom with my previous families).
I am fully trained and certified in the following: CPR and first aid, STCW yacht and water safety training, Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD), Level 2 Award in food safety, Canadian driver’s license, am a strong swimmer, basic firefighting certified, am well travelled (34 countries), fully vaccinated and have travel nanny experience and qualifications; ready to relocate for the right position!
My hobbies include: swimming, hiking, snorkeling, diving and water sports, yoga, videography/photography, travelling, early childhood education and pedagogy, cultural excursions and event videography.
I’ve attached my full CV and a list of my written references from my previous employers and professors and would love to answer any additional questions you might have.
Thank you, hoping to hear from you soon!
Amira Hamour (Mira)
